The Fragments Podcast
Conversations about dementia: empowerment over impairment.
Alongside our work in care homes, we've also been busy recording a new podcast series about living with dementia. We're a group of artists, so we're definitely not experts on the subject, which is why we tracked down those who are and spoke to them at length so we could share our findings with you.
Series 1 of our podcast talks about dementia from a non-health perspective and documents our personal journey into learning about the disease, as we do the research we need to inform our work. We've spoken to academics, care providers, family members and people actually living with dementia, all of whom have helped us to signpost some fantastic local and national initiatives that are making a huge impact on people's lives. It's been an amazing learning process and we can't wait to share it with you just as soon as we've finished editing the audio. Stay tuned...
In time, we hope our podcast will become a resource for anyone with an interest in dementia, whether you're looking for a tool to help you up your social awareness and become more dementia-friendly or because a loved one has recently been diagnosed. We hope our learning helps yours!
Dementia is a cruel and unjust disease, but the people who work in the field are quite the opposite. We want to say a huge thank you to all our wonderful podcast guests, not least for waiting so patiently while we figured out how to turn on our recording equipment! We're happy to say we've got to grips with it now and Series 2 is already in the pipeline.
